Transportation on Isla Margarita

The taxis are extremely cheap and reliable and you can easily rent a taxi a whole day. This is because the price of petrol is extremely low, about $0.05/litre! The cheap petrol price also affects the domestic flights. This could be of great interest if you would like to take a shorter trip Venezuela, perhaps visit Los Roques or Angel Falls.

The buses run to the most of the places in daytime. The locals often go Por Puesto, a taxi for 5 people which goes a fixed route. In other word a kind of collective taxi. This is also very cheap and safe and is a good alternative to taxi. The going can be going slow however, as they often stop to pick up and discharge passengers at frustrate short intervals.

Do not rent car because taxi or Por Puesto would surely be considered as a better option. The two reasons to not rent car is:

1) The first one is because it is expensive.
2) The second is because it is also a very lengthy procedure.
